If I could go back...

Hey Friend,

Switching gears just a bit for today because I have to share something that I am passionate about...

Essential oils played a huge part six years ago in changing the life path that I was on.

They were the stepping stone that allowed me to leap into something unknown, scary... but empowering.

The gave me back a power I didn't even know that I had... the power to take control over my family's health and wellness!

I have a hunch that you want to harness that same power for yourself...

And for that reason, I will shout from the rooftops for as long as I live, and do everything I can to help others take that leap. You aren't alone.

My only regret was that I didn't know about these way sooner... like when my kiddos were little.
I was young, easy controlled, went with the flow, did what I was 'supposed' to do, didn't rock the boat.
So I didn't question anything that I was told... just did it cause that's the way you are supposed to do it.
Sound familiar? I hope not, but if it does...

Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle....
Rock the boat.
Question everything.
Look at the ingredients.
Read the labels.
Do your research.

So I have to take a minute today and tell you about these oils... created just for your kiddos! (Spoiler alert: You can use them too!)

This little collection has been around for awhile now, but it just got discounted and bundled with this adorable owl diffuser/nightlight/white noise machine. Plus, through the end of the month, it also includes a brand new oil (KidPower) for free!

If you have ever thought about maybe NOT doing things the way you've always done them.
If you have ever looked for a safer, more natural alternative to supporting your kiddos.
If you have ever longed to be part of a community of like-minded moms and dads.

Bio-accu-mul-what??? Let me tell ya...

Hey Friend,

I am shifting gears a bit today in and effort to raise some awareness.

I read an article the other day, and it kinda made me mad . . . well not kinda, it did! The article is a couple years old, but the effects linger.

If you want to begin by reading the same article I did, click the picture below. Go ahead and check it out, then come back and continue . . .

"Lab tests ..... indicated almost three-fourths of the 45 food products tested detected high levels of glyphosate, which has been identified as a “probable carcinogen” by the World Health Organization in 2015."

So what do you think about that??  Did you ever imagine you could literally be feeding your family poison when you pour them a bowl of cereal or make some oatmeal??

If you are like I was, you probably didn't.  And you may be asking yourself, "Does it really matter?" or "We have been eating those things for years, and we are fine."  Yep, been there . . . but let me share with you a little bit about something called Bioaccumulation.

If you picture yourself as a glass, and you keep adding liquid to it, even if it is one little drop at a time, eventually it’s going to overflow. That’s basically what body burden is. Your fine, until one day, you aren’t. Can anyone relate to that? Have you seen this happen?

Consider this…
•Some chemicals accumulate in our bodies over time
•Impacts may show up long after exposure
•Some chemicals can become harmful or more toxic in combination with other chemicals
•Chemicals can have more impact during certain periods of development (womb, infancy, puberty)
•Even tiny doses can be very potent

So let's look at the effects of bioaccumulation because most people think exactly as above, it is such a small amount and I've been eating it for years, so I'm fine . . . but that may not be completely true!

  • The body breaks down many of the toxins we are exposed to, but not all
  • Toxins cause extra stress on the liver as it tries to process these unnatural substances
  • Oftentimes we see reactions with skin.  This can be symptomatic of bigger problems, an overburdened liver or the inability of the gut to process properly.

These very things may be why you can think now that you are fine, but over a period of time these chemicals will build up in your system and begin to cause issues . . . even things that we think are 'normal' could very well be the result of bioaccumulation.

So what can we do to prevent this, or to help ease the burden on our bodies???

1.  Avoid processed foods and eat organic whenever possible.
I get it . . . organic is expensive . . . so do what you can. Shop the perimeter of the store because buying a bag of non-organic apples is still a better choice than that package of Oreos (guilty)!  Also, be sure you are washing ALL produce before consuming. I have a great soak that I use and it is the perfect way to make sure you are getting all that garbage off your food before putting it in your body.

2.  Avoid household cleaning and personal care products that contain harmful chemicals.
Food isn't the only place that our bodies are introduced to harmful chemicals . . . our everyday use products are loaded with them! Did you know that 26 seconds after exposure chemicals are found in measurable amounts in the human body?? Everything we come in contact with enters our bloodstream!  Become a label reader, do some research on the dangers of those things that make up your products.  The very first place I started ridding my home of toxins was my household cleaners and I was able to replace every single one of them with just one that I know is safe and effective.

3.  Restore you body's natural balance
Our bodies are capable of great things, if we give them what they need to thrive.  As you begin to eliminate the bad and introduce the good, your body is capable of healing itself and restoring it's natural functions.  Essential oils are a great place to start and are designed to bring balance to the body.  They work with our bodies naturally to support them and keep them working like they are supposed to.  In some cases, if you are really toxic, you may find it necessary to complete a cleanse in order to kick start your body into action.

You can explore all the natural products that I use by heading over to my website and clicking on the Educate tab.  When you decide if this is a right fit for you and you are ready to get started, just shoot me a message and I would love to help!

When you know better, you can do better.  My mission is to educate, inspire and equip you to DO BETTER!!!  You matter and your family matters!  Let's reverse the effects of bioacculumation and allow our bodies to thrive!

Until next time... Blessings!

Even in the waiting, He's still working...

Even in the waiting, He's still working...

Hey Friend,

Would you consider yourself a patient person?
Do you like to wait for things?

For me, that's a BIG NO!!

If you have been holding on to a big dream for a long time,
if you have been working towards a goal for years,
if you have been praying about a specific need for what seems like forever,
the waiting can be really hard... really hard.

That's where part of that persistence comes in that we talked about last week...
Staying the course.
Pushing forward.
One foot in front of the other.

God is always faithful to remind me through various means that even in the waiting He is still working.

“Throughout scripture, there’s not a man or woman that God used in a powerful way who didn’t first face a long and difficult time of waiting.”

"So what do I do while I'm waiting?"

Well.... I'm glad you asked. :) Here are my thoughts...

1.  Be Grateful - yes, as my friend Anna says, "Even in this you are blessed." Even in the waiting you are blessed. Grab a journal and purpose to write down 1-3 things every day that you are grateful for and allow those to be your focus.

2. Continue to Trust - even though God is not working things out as fast as you may like, He hasn't went anywhere. He still sees, hears, and knows all. Do not let your trust in His plan and purpose for your life waver in the waiting.

3. Lean In - the devil wants nothing more than for your season of waiting to cause a separation. He will begin to plant seeds of doubt and do everything in his power to steal your peace. Now is the time to press hard into Jesus, my friend.

4. Serve - shift the focus off of yourself and look outward. Who can you serve while you are waiting? God may purposely have you in this season as a way of slowing you down long enough so that you can be available to meet someone else's need.

5. Be Watchful and Hope - fill yourself with anxious expectation of what God is doing on your behalf, even if you aren't seeing it yet. There is a beautiful song by Danny Gokey called, "Haven't Seen It Yet." Find it on YouTube or Google and give a listen. Don't be so caught up in the way you think things should turn out, that you miss the blessings He is dropping all around you.

None of these things come easy friend, they require intention and perseverance. But stay the course. I promise, God isn't finished yet.

Until next time... Blessings!

Don't forget, the gate opens on our new group, Guarding the Gate... of your Home, Body & Mind, on July 15th!

Persistence over perfection...

Persistence over perfection...

Hey Friend, would you consider yourself a perfectionist... "a person who refuses to accept any standard short of perfection"?

I would have to answer yes for myself.

But to my downfall, that need to have things 'just right' before moving forward has oftentimes...
  • kept me feeling 'stuck' in places I don't want to be
  • caused me to fear not making the 'perfect' choice, so I make no choice at all
  • left me feeling frustrated and discouraged over my lack of progress
Can you relate?

Thankfully, true to His amazing character, God always meets me right where I am, in the middle of my mess, with gentle reminders that He is looking for persistence rather than perfection.

Social media has been a place where I have been able to connect with so many amazing people. But given everything that is happening in the world today, I have not been interacting much in good old FB world. Many times I am still unsure of when to speak up and when to shut up. I find that scrolling through my newsfeed no longer brings me joy.

I want a space free of politics, free of negativity, free of confusion, free of overwhelm, free of everyone knowing everything and everyone else knowing nothing, free of judgment, free of criticism...
A space where I can be me and you can be you, and that's OK...
A space where others can come to learn, be inspired and feel equipped to handle whatever it is you need to handle.
A space where YOU can feel supported, heard, and encouraged.

So I started to create that SPACE... and boy oh boy, did all the fears and doubts come right to the surface.

All of these feelings well up and spill out every time I embark on a new journey. I was reminded yesterday by a very dear friend that whenever we commit to God's good, the old devil always tries to get his two cents in there and he knows exactly where to strike... for me it is at the heart of my perfection.

The last time you tried this it failed.
Do you really think this time will be different?
What if this isn't the right choice...

There is no perfect choice, there is no perfect answer, there is no perfect outcome.
There is persistent, messy action that moves you forward... done is better than perfect.

I don't know exactly what it's going to look like...
I don't have everything perfectly planned out...
I don't know where it will lead...
and that's OK (or at least that is what I am telling myself, remember I'm not perfect!)

Do you have a spirit of perfectionism that is keeping you from taking action?
Have you been feeling led to step out of your comfort zone and do a new thing, but fears over it not being 'perfect' are keeping you right where you are?
Are you mulling over whether or not it's the right choice, so you aren't making any choice at all?

Step out in faith today, my friend.
Kick that spirit of perfectionism to the curb.
Take messy action.
Just do it.

Until next time... Blessings!
