Top Tips for Your Wellness Journey

I know one area that so many people tend to give more focus to at the beginning of the year is their health. Can we move away from the 'losing weight' resolution and lean more into just getting healthy, please?

I embarked on my own health journey a few years ago, and that is exactly what it is my friend, a journey. Getting yourself back into a better state of health does not happen overnight. And by health, I am not just talking physical... it's mental, emotional, and spiritual as well.

This week I thought we would dig a little deeper into that and I would share some of what I have found helpful. If that's OK with you, then keep reading. :)

1. Mindfulness: In the whirlwind of your daily routine, finding moments of mindfulness can be transformative. Consider incorporating simple yet effective breathing exercises into your day. Take a few minutes to focus on your breath, inhaling deeply and exhaling slowly. This mindful practice can center your thoughts, reduce stress, and bring a sense of calm to even the busiest moments. It's a small yet powerful way to nurture your mental well-being and keep yourself connected to the present moment. So often we project ourselves way too far into the future, and that brings unnecessary stress. Can I get an 'Amen!'?

What I use: A simple timer App on my phone set for 5-10 minutes and box breath until it goes off (breath in, hold, breathe out, hold - all for a count of 4).

2. Working Out at Home: You don't need a pricey gym membership to start working out. Prioritize your physical well-being with fitness equipment that you can use at home. Whether it's a yoga mat, resistance bands, or even a treadmill (which I purchased last year and actually use!), investing in home workout essentials can make staying active convenient and enjoyable. I hope you are starting to see a theme here... wellness does not have to be complicated.

3. Nourishing Your Body with Nutritional Supplements: Let's be honest, maintaining a balanced diet is challenging. I don't think you need me to tell you that. Explore nutritional supplements that can support your overall health. From multivitamins to supplements tailored for energy and stress relief, these can be valuable additions to your wellness routine. Ultimately you find what works for you. I absolutely love, love my goji berry juice. I am heading into a 14-day reset next week with 100's of others and this will take center stage. Find a community of people with your same health goals, and allow them to challenge and support you. If you want to know more about the reset I'm doing and join me (we do one every month), you can get more info >> HERE<<.

4. Calm Your Space with Aromatherapy: Promote relaxation and emotional healing by incorporating aromatherapy into your home. Our sense of smell is so powerful and directly connected to the emotional center of the brain. Essential oil diffusers paired with calming scents like lavender or chamomile can create a peaceful atmosphere, providing moments of calm in the chaos. Y'all know I love me some oils (and if you don't, you do now).

5. Build Your Faith Daily: Carve out time daily to spend with Jesus. This does not mean you have to sit for hours with your Bible open on your lap and your hands folded in prayer. Will certain times and seasons call for that, yes. But Jesus will meet you where you are friend. It might be a whispered prayer while making dinner, a 10-minute devotional reading, or a verse of the day that pops up through the YouVersion app on your phone. Something that causes you to pause, shift your focus and find gratitude. Don't overcomplicate this. Again, we are keeping it simple.

What I use: Jesus Calling Devotional, Thrive Journaling Devotional Bible, Bible studies from Proverbs 31 Ministries

6. Building Healthy Habits with Fitness Trackers: What you focus on, grows. I got an Apple watch about a year ago, and over the last six months have really been putting it to use. This is a great way to keep yourself accountable. These devices can help you monitor your physical activity, set achievable fitness goals, and track your progress.  I am determined to close all three of my rings every day! It is such a great way to track your progress.

What I use:  Apple Watch

Incorporating these things into your daily life is a tangible way to prioritize your well-being. Remember, self-care is not selfish. It is not a luxury but a necessity.

I hope you find some of these tips helpful. Let me know what you plan to incorporate first.

Here's to a healthier, happier you!
